Optics, Photonics and Lasers

Miguel Torres-Cisneros is a full professor of the Department of Electronics Engineering at the University of Guanajuato, México. He has published about 70 papers in the fields of nonlinear optics and fiber optics sensors. He has also received eight patents and led several projects in the local automotive industry. He has served as an adviser to about 60 graduate and undergraduate students. He was president of the Mexican Academy for Optics in 1999 and became a regular member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences in 2006. Since 2006, he has been a member of the UNESCO team for Active Learning for Optics and Photonics (ALOP), participating as a facilitator in several Latin American countries.

Asar Jaradat is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow in nuclear physics at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research), where she conducts research at the ISOLDE facility. Asar was part of the LISA (Laser Ionization and Spectroscopy of Actinides) consortium, her work focuses on the development of advanced high-resolution laser spectroscopy techniques for actinides, specifically through the PI-LIST (Perpendicularly Illuminated Laser Ion Source and Trap) specialized ion source. In 2022, Asar and her team achieved a significant milestone by performing the first online high resolution laser spectroscopy scan in a hot cavity for neutron-rich actinium—an accomplishment widely recognized within the nuclear and photonics communities. With a passion for innovation that began at age 14 when she developed her first patent, Asar brings a uniquely interdisciplinary perspective to her work. Her research experience spans both academic and industrial domains, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD) optimization for Google Data Centers and combustion studies at ENSMA (École Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et d’Aérotechnique) in France. Her diverse background and non-traditional path in the field bring a fresh, creative approach to photonics research, making her contributions both distinctive and impactful.

Friedhelm M. Jöge, born in 1943, worked in a scientific laboratory after studying chemistry and mathematics textbooks at a young age and after studying chemical engineering. He then worked in development departments in the chemical and phamaceutical industries. The focus of his work was in the field of biochemistry and macromolecular chemistry. His interest are the synopsis of various physical, chemical and biologycal knowledge as well as questions of origin of life and ethics in the
field of tension between faith and science. In particular, he dealt with the concept of information. He is married, has a daughter and three Grandchildren. He also loves music and chess.

Dr. Felix Iosif Iacob is a theoretical physicist at the West University of Timișoara, Romania, specializing in quantum systems, molecular dynamics, and mathematical physics. His research focuses on solvable models in quantum mechanics, quantum scattering, and nonperturbative phenomena. He has contributed to the development of analytical methods in electron-molecule collisions and confined molecular systems, with applications in plasma physics and interstellar chemistry. Dr. Iacob is actively engaged in international collaborations and has presented his work at numerous scientific conferences. He is a member of the Romanian Physical Society and the European Physical Society.

Rafael Guzmán-Cabrera. Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Engineering Division, Irapuato-Salamanca Campus, University of Guanajuato. He holds a PhD in Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. He is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, a member of the national system of level 2 researchers, and a member of the faculty of applied physics and advanced technologies.

Mary Carmen Peña Gomar is a professor and full-time researcher at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo. Her academic work focuses on the development of plasmonic sensors, applied optics, and the characterization of metallic thin films for studying light–matter interactions. She has participated in projects that combine artificial intelligence and optics, applying machine learning techniques for automatic image classification and surface analysis. Her recent publications include studies on surface plasmon resonance, color generation through plasmonic meta surfaces, and optical biosensors.

I am a PhD researcher working at the intersection of quantum information theory, many-body entanglement, measurement-induced phase transitions, quantum cryptography, and quantum chaos. My work combines analytical theory and large-scale quantum circuit simulations to understand the emergence of classicality, the role of entanglement, and the boundaries of efficient computation.

Dr. Sujan Kar born on 1974. Joined RRCAT, Indore (Department of Atomic Energy) in 1997 after completing his graduation degree in Physics from Burdwan University, W.B. During his research career, he has completed M.Sc. physics in 2006 from DAVV Indore and PhD in physics from HBNI, Mumbai in 2017. His research interest is growth and characterizations of photonic crystal. He is also involved in synthesis nanoparticle, long phosphor, scintillator material etc. He has guided more than 25 M.Tech. /M.Sc. students. Currently he is guiding one PhD scholar. He is also teaching PhD scholars of HBNI since last three years. Till now he has published 45 papers in international journal, 42 papers in seminar, and three book chapters. His research work has more than 800 citations and more than 8800 reads in research gate. Recently he has been awarded with Bharat Gaurav Puraskar for outstanding achievements and remarkable contribution in the field of material science and engineering by KTK outstanding achievers and education foundation, on 29th September, 2024 at New Delhi. He is serving as reviewer of many reputed international journals like applied physics letter, journal of applied physics etc. He is also an editorial board member of Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology - Wiley Online Library and guest editor of Nanomaterial for Energy Harvesting Applications, Wiley.

Mário F. S. Ferreira is a Professor at the Physics Department of Aveiro University, Portugal. Between 1990 and 1991 he was at the University of Essex, UK, performing experimental work on external cavity semiconductor lasers and nonlinear optical fiber amplifiers. His research interests have been concerned with the modelling and characterization of multi-section semiconductor lasers for coherent systems, quantum well lasers, optical fiber amplifiers and lasers, optical sensors, soliton propagation, polarization and nonlinear effects in optical fibers. He has been the leader of the Optics and Optoelectronics Group of the I3N – Institute of Nanostructures, Nanomodelling and Nanofabrication. He is a Fellow and a Travelling Lecturer of both OPTICA (Optical Society of America) and SPIE - The International Society for Optics and Photonics, and a Member of IEEE. He served in various committees of OSA/OPTICA and of SPIE, as well as in the organizing and scientific committees of various international conferences. Actually, he serves also as an Associate Editor or as an Advisor Board Member of several international journals in the area of optics and photonics.

Dr. P. C. SRIKANTH had his schooling in the same town and graduated in Electronics & Communication Engineering in 1987 from Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan,Karnataka,India securing a first class with Distinction. He has completed his M.Tech. degree in 1996 from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in the area of LASERS, and obtained his Ph.D. from VTU Belgaum . He worked in the applied photonic lab IISc, Bangalore during his PhD. Starting as a Lecturer 1987, he became Assistant Professor In 1999, Professor in 2011 in Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan,Karnataka,India. He has a deep involvement in Optical networks, was awarded as TOP 100 ENGINEERS-2011 by International Biographical Centre, St Thomas’ Place,ELY,CB7 4GG Great Britain. He was Selected for Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering 2011-2012 (11th Edition), and also in 2016-2017 (12th Edition) New Providence, NJ 07974,USA . He received Best paper award for the following papers, Modelling of Photonic Crystal Ring Resonator Temperature Sensor during 2014, A Novel Quantum Dot Automata Based Design For Multiplexers during 2015 Detection of Fluoride Contaminated Water in Dental Applications during 2015 and Pressure Sensing using a Two-Dimensional Photonic crystal Sensor during 2022 at International Conferences. He has been Awarded as Outstanding Scientist in the field of Photonics , by Venus International foundation CARD , on 19th Dec 2015 . In 2018 he received Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering, New Providence, NJ 07974,USA.In 2022 he received Distinguished Fellow award from IETE.He has also conferred with Dr T S Indumathi award for his research contribution towards photonics during the year 2022. His Research areas includes ,Optical Communication and Networks, Photonic Band gap Crystals, Wireless Networks, LASERS and Quantum Electronics. He has Guided/guiding more than 100 BE ,M.Tech and Ph.d students. He has so far published more than 150 papers in national and international journals and conferences. He has attended many international conferences in India and Abroad and has chaired many technical sessions. He has organized many international conferences and workshops. He has also given many Key note and Invited talks in international conferences ,workshops,FDP etc. Awards and laurels won by Dr. P. C. SRIKANTH run into volumes. So far he has received 15 awards. Dr. P. C. SRIKANTH is Senior Member IEEE (USA), Life Member ISTE, He was Secretary , Vice Chairman IEEE Photonic society, Karnataka Chapter Bangalore , Secretary ,India Counsel IEEE Photonics Society, and Founder PrakashBharati(IEEE Photonic society, India),Currently he is EXECOM member IEEE Bangalore section .

Prof. Igor I. Mokhun is a distinguished expert in optics and laser physics, currently serving as a full-time professor at the Department of Correlation Optics, Chernivtsi National University, Ukraine. He holds a Ph.D. in Optics from Kazan State University (1986) and a Doctor of Science degree in Optics and Laser Physics from Chernivtsi National University (2000). With over 200 scientific publications, his research focuses on singular optics, statistical optics, holography, optical tweezers, and optical data processing. Prof. Mokhun is the recipient of the prestigious State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (2020) and the D.S. Rozhdestvensky Medal from the Russian Optical Society. He serves as Vice President of the Ukraine Society of Pure and Applied Optics and is a Senior Member of the Optical Society of America (OSA) since 2017. He has supervised eight Ph.D. dissertations, contributing significantly to the advancement of optical sciences in Ukraine and beyond.

Dr. Rawaa A. Faris Al-Saaday is an Assistant Professor and previous Head of the Industrial and Engineering Applications Department at the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies, University of Baghdad. She holds a Ph.D. in Laser Applications and has extensive expertise in photonics, nanomaterials, and biosensors for medical diagnostics. Her research interests include laser–material interactions, optical fiber sensors, and lab-on-chip microfluidic devices for pharmaceutical and biomedical applications.

Dr. Al-Saaday has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as Optical Materials, Optics Communications, Vibrational Spectroscopy, and Applied Optics, and co-authored the academic book Optical Properties for Prepared Silver Nano Composite (LAP Lambert, 2017). She also serves as an Academic Editor at PLOS ONE and has acted as a reviewer for IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, and OSA journals.

She has been an invited speaker and scientific committee member at several international conferences in optics, photonics, and nanotechnology. In addition to her academic contributions, Dr. Al-Saaday is active in mentoring and empowering women in STEM and has received multiple awards for her teaching and research excellence.
